Daphne: Daphne was rescued by a fantastic family. She had a big bark for such a little dog. She barked when company came over. Daphne learned that barking does not get her attention, but being calm and quiet got her tons of attention. Keep up the good work Daphne!

OWNER'S COMMENTS: (Actual Email)
HI Jeannie,
I thought that I would let you know Daphne had a breakthrough in her barking at visitors tonight! We had a houseful of people, and Joe let her out of her crate. I caught her, and when she was barking took her to the bathroom for a few minutes. Then let her try again. Like you said, it took about 3 tries until she stopped the barking. Then she got lots of attention. I was holding her the whole time, as half of the people here were small kids, but they were all petting her, and she of course loved it! I will have to see if she has a repeat performance next Tuesday night!

Meet Harley. Harley is a beautiful Aussie Mix. He has some issues with chewing and
shyness. I'm happy to report that because Harley has such great owners, training is having
positive success. It is work in progress, but Harley is lucky to have such a great human
family. We'll continue to work together to help Harley walk calmly on a leash with her
sister Sasha. Here is what his owners said:

"what a difference in the day...
dan took them 4 walk before work and when i came home from week they barely jumped on me...
fed both before left for work and they both ate good... neither 1 of them slepted on bed last
night... thanks

Meet Ciara: Ciara is a beautiful pitbull. She was adopted by a wonderful owner. Ciara has issues with
aggression towards another dog in the home and is quite energetic. I am happy to say that Ciara is doing
better and is walking calmly on the leash. She has a wonderful owner who is working with her daily to help
curb her aggression. With consistent leadership exercises and the right walking harness, Ciara is doing
much better. Here is what her owner said:

Hi Jeannie!
Yes, it was a pleasure meeting you! You are such a giving person and I really respect your advice and
encouragements.. Thank you again sooo much. I went to the pet store and bought that walking harness.
Amazing!! I took her for two more walks and she was wonderful. Last evening I walked her over to a
friends house and she was so obedient and quiet while we stood outside and talked for about 20 min. Today
again we took a walk which was good and then played ball in the yard until the rain came.

Meet Sasha: Sasha is a beautiful German Shepherd. She lives with Harley.
Sasha is having issues with jumping and barking. Thanks to her strong pack
leader owners, she is now doing great! Isn't she a beauty?

Meet Casper: Casper is a one year old Chi/Terrier mix who was adopted by a wonderful couple.
Casper is having some separation issues and shows some aggression towards other dogs. He tends to nip
at his owners after a bout of "the crazies". After meeting Casper I realized his issues stem from fear,
coupled with anxiety and frustration creates aggression. I am happy to say that after one session
Casper's owners have taken on the role of Pack Leader and Casper is responding nicely. We are still
working on building Casper's confidence with positive reinforcement and helping him curb his aggression
towards dogs. I will post updates as training progresses.

Hi Jeannie-
This is so helpful! I just returned from DC and learned that Eric tried the "Yelp and Shun" method last
night--it seemed to work! And I took him on my first walk today since we met with you and he was so
well behaved. I made him wait until I invited him down the stairs and until I had exited the doorways
first. He was very relaxed when we came home, which is normally when he would start acting wild.
So, we'll continue to use the "yelp and shun" method and let you know how it goes. Thanks again for
everything. Your advice has been very good for us.
I'll be in touch.
Blue: Blue is a gorgeous husky/shepherd mix who was adopted from a
shelter. He is appx. 1 1/2 yrs old. He was aggressive towards other dogs on
a walk and showed aggression with his owner when overly excited. He has
improved so much. He's a work in progress but doing fantastic! Pictures
to follow..

Hi Jeannie,
I've seen a huge improvement!! He's like a brand new dog!! I've been just
working on ignoring him right now. If things go well, maybe next week I'll
continue with the "leave it" training. We had another situation with an off
the leash dog last night and once again he did better than me!! I'll keep
you posted.
Thanks,
